Samuel serves as the president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. He served on the White House Task Force on Fatherhood and Healthy Families, was the first Latino evangelical reverend to take part in an inaugural ceremony, and is the recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Award. He is an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God, has a master’s degree in educational leadership from Lehigh University, and received an honorary doctorate from The Baptist Universities of The Americas and Northwest University. Samuel lives in Sacramento with his wife, Eva, and their three children, and two grandchildren.
